Dial Labels

Vertical

Normal

Contra

Nothing dresses up a project like some nice labels. These are done on my Brother P-Touch PT-1500PC label maker. The labels I am offering are black letters on a clear background. The labels are 1/4 inch wide (6mm). The typeface is for the Normal and Contra style labels is the Bold Arial font in a size 11 point. The vertical labels are the "Magneto" type face. That typeface looks better when used vertically.

The normal label sets, the frequency markings (1700-520) have large dot on the left side, so they are suitable for the top or left side markings. On my next project that I use the normal labels, I will add the correct picture.

The contra label sets have the large dot on the left side for the bottom of the band, and the large dot on the right side for the top end of the band.

The vertical labels have no large dot.

These labels take a steady hand to apply on the dial. You need a pair of side cutters (or trimmers) to cut each label. The end closest to the edge of the dial can be cut at an angle so the label can be close to the edge without going over.

The backing is easily peeled off.

As you can see from my example the dial markings really look nice. Each strip (either normal, contra or vertical) sells for $3.00 plus shipping.

Please order by type, either N-Normal, V-Vertical or C-Contra.

Before applying the labels, you may want to test the marking positions by covering the dial with masking tape, and do a calibration, only using a pen to see how the dial will look. In many cases, you won't use every frequency marking, if the numbers look like they will be too close. I start at the top of the band and work my way down.

Dial Discs

I have two sizes of dial discs available. These have the center hole plus the two small holes to mount the disc to the vernier. The three sizes of discs are, 3-½ inch (8,9 cm), 4 inch (10,1 cm) and 4-¾ inches (12,1 cm)(not shown).

If you are building a two dial radio, it is generally the best to order two of the same sets of markings. An exception might be a set with a contra detector coil and a regular antenna coil. On my #68 set, I used the contra labels on both sides, even though the antenna tuning unit has no band switch.

When ordering, please specify the dial size (3.5, 4.0 or 4.75), and also the marking type (N, V or C) (Normal, Vertical, or Contra).

Prices:
Dial labels only: $3.00
Dial labels and disc $9.00
Dial labels, disc and vernier $19.00.
